This was my first SLR bought in 1977 and I still have it and still use it regularly it is one of the sturdiest SLR s ever built. Being fully mechanical the only electrics are in the lightmeter (which over 25 years is still accurate). The quality of the lens is very good and being from the era of solid Nikons. It has stood the test of time well, it feels a lot looser now but this doesn't affect the photos. The camera has always been noisy, a real clang from the mirror and shutter but after a lot of getting used to not a problem with them.

The only glitches have been a slightly dodgy connection when setting the shutter speed that is minor enough to ignore and last year a bit of light leaking as some foam had degraded, a minor repair (with a note from the repairer to contact him if I wanted to sell it!)

My model is a black one and now shows a lot of "brassing". If you find a good FT3 snap it up - you won't be sorry.
