Moved up from 1D, 10D, and 400D. This is a superior camera. I do birds and it's so easy to capture flight and other poses.

Love the instant gratification of digital, offers the ability to correct mistakes in the field. Unlike the consumer grade digital cameras, this model does not have the shutter lag time. This model accepts all Canon and less expensive lenses. With the proper techniques, this camera approaches medium-format quality.

I love my Mark II N. I photograph high school sports part time and needed the speed. The camera is user friendly and the menu is easy to browse through. My camera is still fairly new and I still have plenty to learn.

I have used both the 1Dn and the 5D. For true photojournalism, this camera is by far the best of the best.. Easy to use, intuitive control layout and great speed and image clarity!

For action photography this is the best camera I have used. The camera's peed is sensational, but the 70 - 200mm f2.8 lens with image stabiliser makes panning much more succesful.

I have been behind a few cameras in my career but this camera stands alone. The speed and clarity is just awesome. I shoot with multiple large lenses and converters. This camera spins the AF with no problem and with long battery life. Worth every penny !

After digesting the extensive operations manual and working with the camera to apply new functions, I find that this camera is so much more advanced than the 20D, both in focusing ability and functionality necessary for outdoor/wildlife photography. The fast shutter is one of my favorite features of the camera for flight and action photography.

The Canon 1D Mark IIn is an awesome tool for me. It is the fifth camera I have owned in 41 years and I am still living far inside its' capapbilities. It's heavy for a camera but I believe it would be very light if it were a sledge hammer. Build, speed, ease of use, dual cards (1 RAW/ 1 Jpeg)... all great. I GUESS I wish it had the 12.8MP found in the 1Ds but I haven't blown up any images to 22 X 35 FEET yet so it doesn't haunt me. I use "L" lenses which produce awesome low-light, hi-speed images (I shoot a lot of ice skating/ indoor sports). If there is a better camera I may own it one day but it will my OTHER camera. I'm not selling the Mark II.

This camera is an upgrade from a Digital Rebel (300D). I've been using it for a little more than a week now, and so far I'm impressed; however, the learning curve is significant. The advanced AF and exposure systems and low noise performance at high ISO's along with amazing speed are the main advances that this body offers over the 300D. The large display will be nice for getting immediate feedback from customers during portrait sessions as well. Some minor gripes that I have with the camera are that the FEL buttons are hard to find (I'll get used to them), the vertical shutter release is more sensitive than the horizontal release, and you have to use Canon's goofy CameraWindow software to change the personal function settings, like max./min. shutter speed and continuous shooting speed, (custom functions can still be set from the menu). I also wish that exposure compensation was always set using the main dial (it's awkward to hold down the +/- button and spin the front dial). Besides a few minor user interface quirks, performance of the camera has been excellent. I'm particularly amazed by the quality of the images at ISO 1600. There is still visible noise, but it is much more monochromatic than the colorful confetti like noise that the 300D produces at higher ISO settings. The noise looks much more like fine film grain and is not noticeable in prints smaller than 8x10. Even in larger prints it is not distracting. Everyone asks me why I did not buy the 5D instead. For our work, a full-frame image sensor is not necessary, but the greater speed, dual card slots, and professional 1D body are all useful features. The 3504x2332 images are already 46.9 MB when developed into 16-bit TIF's, which is plenty of data for the size of prints that we most often produce. The 1.3x crop factor is a nice upgrade from the 1.6x of the 300D while still letting me use the sweet spot of the lens.

Have not used it a lot so far because of the recent release of it, but from what I can tell and what I am expecting from this camera and everything I have read and heard from the Canon reps I am very excited. It seems like it will live up to its name as a very capable and fast camera.
