But Hurry, Since Time Is Running Out! Be Part of Something Special ... Start Making Masterpieces Every Month! Get Motivated ... Get Inspired ... at the BetterPhoto Summit in NYC! New Photo Discussions This was shot in early morning, and the low-angled sunlight helped achieve richer color. Would you share the settings you used? I would have used ISO 100 if I had been attentive. I neglected to change my ISO setting after making a previous shot in low light. At ISO 100 the shutter speed would have been 1/400 sec. I used my Canon 100mm Macro Lens with a small aperture setting to obtain as much detail as possible. Entered into Details and Macro. The Next Step: Where to Go From Here

These yellow irises grow wild in our area ( Eastern Ontario) in wet habitats such as marshes, pond edges and wet ditches. This photo was taken at at wetland/marsh I often visit to look for birds.

I'm internally whining because I wasn't able to join the Seattle Summit - mainly because of images like this one. The POV and silhouette look is spectacular. Well-done, Dennis.

Response 1:I used aperture priority with -1 stop exposure bias, "partial metering," and I metered on the sky region above the Needle. The resulting settings: f/22 and 1/3200 sec at ISO 800.

Response 1:This is truly a stunning image, Melissa! Congatulations on a well-deserved finalist! When I went shooting butterflies and dragonflies two weeks ago, I learned how difficult it can be. Plus, we had a stiff wind, but it was a great learning experience, and makes me appreciate this fine image all the more. - Bill
