"Jim Miotke is without a doubt the most dedicated and inspiring mentor that I have had the privilege of working with. Two key elements which combine to make him a dynamic and insightful photographic instructor are his ability to understand how his clients receive and absorb information, as well as his knack for translating technical and abstract concepts into easy to understand explanations. He is always ready and willing to assist any and all who may be interested in learning or improving their skills in the craft that is photography. His infectious enthusiasm for photography and his willingness to share his passion are clearly evident in all of his dealings with his clients as well as the general public. He ensures that any critiques that he may offer, are portrayed in the most positive way possible, highlighting the well achieved aspects of the work while suggesting alternatives which may enhance the viewers perception of any piece. I would highly recommend working with Jim to anyone aspiring to improve their photographic skills or who wish to become involved in teaching and mentoring photographers at all levels."

"I think that you know by now that I'm fiercely loyal to BP and would do anything for you! I think Jim and everyone of you is so special, and whenever I can help in any way, don't hesitate to ask. I'm really serious. More conference calls, testimonials, whatever. BP has really helped me develop my self confidence and prepare for when I grow up (retirement) which is maybe 5 years down the line. I love BetterPhoto. I truly do, and I want to see you flourish and continue to grow for years to come."
- Donna Benson,
"Thank You, Jim. You took your dream, followed it and made it happen and look how beautiful you have made the world."
- Judy McGuire,
"All lessons were well organized, easy to understand and had very good assignments to fit exactly what had been explained. The added humor Jim offered also was a real plus. This makes BetterPhoto a winning site in my book. I think the people at BP really have things figured out!"

"I truly agree that you have created a fabulous website and classroom for all of us who love to learn photography. I took my first class with BetterPhoto just this past October and have not stopped since. I am here in Tokyo for one year with my husband and daughter and was not sure how I was going to fill my days. BetterPhoto has absolutely helped me to see this beautiful country with a focused eye. New things to see and take pictures of everyday. Your teachers are wonderfully positive and creative and talented. Thank you for the gift of BetterPhoto and Happy New Year to you."

"I wanted to write you and say thank you for the website BetterPhoto.com. I only one year ago purchased my first DSLR camera. Before then I was merely a point and shoot guy, who took a lot of photos, but never controlled the actual camera always had it set on automatic. I bought a Canon 40D, along with a few lens, a 17-85 and a 65MPE macro lens. I set some high goals for myself as a photographer, so went on Google and started looking for some good online courses to take. Betterphoto came up on a number of occasions and I enrolled in the 40D class by Ibarionex Perello. A few weeks later I took a macro class with Brenda Tharp. It has almost been a year now since I've had this camara and taking pictures, and only a month ago now, National Geographic called me and asked me for some photos. So I really want to thank you for your site and all the help it gave me in order to reach this goal."

"Hello, just a note to Mr. Miotke. I went through different online photo sites and thought they were all about the same. I purchased Mr. Miotke's book, "The BetterPhoto Guide to Digital Photography" just by chance. I had all but forgotten about the online school. I have read numerous books on photography and for some reason the exposure stuff just never clicked. His book is fantastic, I finally feel like I understand things a little better. That's the reason I am back at this site to take a class. So, just wanted to let him know how much the book helped me. I don't usually send emails like this, but again, just wanted him to know. Thanks, your future student."

"I had a great time at the Summit and enjoyed the presentations and instructors. I filled out the survey and on the way home thought what really impressed me most about the summit was Jim Miotke. He is the kindest and most personable man. The fact that he ran the Summit himself, shared his family pictures with us and talked to each of us as if we were long time friends. What a great man and company to do business with. Please share this with him. Thanks for a great time."
