My first camera was a Kodak Instamatic 110, which I had during my Army service; unfortunately most of those photos have been lost.
In 1984 I was able to purchase my first real camera, a Cannon AE1. Not only did I start taking more photographs, I also began to read books on Photography and tried to incorporate what I learned in my shooting. I started exploring the use of telephoto and macro lens. I really like using the telephoto lens during large family gathering, since it allowed me to get some very good candid photos without having to get close to my subject.
Nature, landscapes and birds are some of my favorite subject, as is taking photos of one subject being reflected by another.
My first digital camera did not allow me to continue to shoot the type of photography that I enjoyed, since it did not have interchangeable lens and the zoom function was limited. I am still learning how to use all the features of my Cannon Rebel XTI and learning how to use Photoshop to enhance my photographs.
Within the last year I have started to add some of my attempts at poetry and American style haiku to go with my some of my photographs. My fiancée has also used some of my photograph to go with her poetry.
A camera is the magickal all seeing eye, so we have to learn to look with a different perspective at all that surrounds us when looking through the viewfinder. With the play of light, shadow, texture and colour ordinary objects may become a beautiful photograph or a moving statement on the human or worldly conditions that we all face.
