At 16 I began my hands-on interest in photography. I had watched my Father for years as he worked in his dark room developing black and white photographs taken with his 'Roliflex' and his 'Speedgraphic' sheet film cameras. Then at 16 he bought me my first 'REAL' camera, a Mamiya Sekor 35mm. With this camera I began taking pictures of everything. Later that year I began taking photographs for the high school I went to in New Jersey. My photos for the school were used in brochures of the school's work release program with shots of students who got out of school early to go to their jobs which they earned school credit. Three years later I bought a Hasselblad 500CM (2 1/4 square format) camera brand new for $800.00, and got a job with a local photography studio where I assisted the photographer/owner with weddings. This man was a master. He taught photography school at one of the better known photography schools in Philadelphia, PA., and I learned how to shoot with out using a light meter; using electronic flash out doors for fill-in; and some magnificent artistic poses. Every wedding he did he sent two photographers on and they used multiple strobes for all their wedding shots. Now at the age of 56, after raising two generations of kids (which I photographed endlessly) I still enjoy this creative, artistic and very satisfying way of expressing one's self. Only now, I have moved from film to digital, and from dark rooms to computer screen.
