Nice one Bob Always amazes me that they hunt fish this small and will also take fish, rodents ,amphibians and chicks of any bird .
We have quite a large winter population of these fellows from western Suffolk county all the way East to Montauk Point .

Beautifully captured! His meager prey is amusing. The Little Green Heron I shot on the pond this past summer absolutely consumed all the fish, frogs, crayfish, and LORD knows what else. #10431176

Thanks everyone!

Great Blues are fairly common around my neck of the woods...but I can never resist when one exhibits such an accommodating display of cooperativity.
This handsome heron was snagging minnows, bluegills, etc. from less than 30 feet away from where I was standing.
