Fragile

The Eagles nest here in Orlando. A Challenge to shoot due to it`s height and angle. It`s also riddled with Termites and a family of Pileated Woodpeckers live there too and have hollowed it out pretty much.I took this from inside my truck as some storms moved in on a cold, windy day. The nest bends and sways in the wind and we all hope it lasts long enough for the Eaglets to fledge.Captured at F/8,1/1600,Iso640,80mm.
Exif: F Number: 8, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 625/1000000 seconds, Flash: did not fire., ISO: 640, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 80.00 mm, Model: NIKON D90

Oh dear...It doesn't look very safe. I sure hope they will be ok. Beautiful capture and keep us posted. #1245326Amy M. Wilson March 05, 2010
Wow, I had no idea it was perched so precariously! Sure hope it will last, it would be horrible to have anything happen to those beautiful eaglets, especially now that they're so close to being able to fly!! Now that I see this I'm even more amazed by your fantastic captures, Hal... great work! #8433854Tiia Vissak March 05, 2010
a great find! #8433896Kathleen Brennan March 05, 2010

Hal, Thanks for the photo, I truly hope this nest will last until the eaglets can fly. I hope next year the eagles will build in a different near-by tree.Nancy J. Locke March 05, 2010

Your eagle series is wonderful Hal. I hope this nest holds up so we have more offspring of these awesome birds. #8434311Tammy M. Anderson March 05, 2010
Great capture of our eagle friends home. You shots are all just fantastic, Hal. #8434315Monnie Ryan March 05, 2010
Uh, watch that first step -- it's a doozy! Hard to believe that flimsy limb would hold anything heavier than a few feathers. Interesting capture, Hal! #8434333Mike Clime March 05, 2010
You sure would have thought that they would have picked a better tree that was more protected from the elements. I guess though it is easy to see your enemies coming though. #8434434Claudia Kuhn March 05, 2010
Yikes! This is the same nest that all of your eagle family pics come from??? Hope they do make it in that nest in that skinny flexible tree. Keep us posted. Our eagles are in a big pine tree that certainly looks sturdier than this, but I worry about it in our storms as well. #8434493Gord MacEachern March 05, 2010
It sure doesn't look very safe Hal, but I bet if Gloria and Meathead had to they could probably fly now! #8434545Julianne Bradford March 05, 2010
Great capture..hope it stays safe for them Hal! #8434660Randy D. Dinkins March 05, 2010
Wow, thanks for showing the living quarters. It does indeed look a little suspect. #8434787Michelle Alton March 05, 2010

Wow! That's up there quite a distance...I never pictured it this way from your photos. Sure hope they get their "wings" before a really strong wind comes along. Neat perspective...neat photo. #8434861Ellen Hodges March 05, 2010
Extremely descriptive shot, Hal! Wonderful pov. The ones I've seen up north seem to be a lot heavier. Fantastic capture. #8434942Jean-Pierre Ducondi March 05, 2010

Very nice details and image of Archie and Edith's home! They could use a more sturdy upgrade by the sounds and looks of things! Nice work, Hal! #8434974Robert K. Bemus March 06, 2010
