My GPS kept trying to direct me to turn into a snowy field, which ended up being the Blue Ridge Parkway that had closed in November. Determined to get my shot, the locals directed me to Mabry Mill Road where I promptly got stuck in over 6 inches of snow. A debt of gratitude to the tractor driver who came along and pulled me out and then plowed the road to mill or this photo would not have been possible. #1241732

An outstanding capture of this historic old mill Amanda... a truly beautiful winter wonderland photograph.

The fresh snow and rustic structure framed by the sky and trees in the background, with the ice and reflections in the foreground create a memorable and stunning image.

The picture captures the moment in a way the visitors past and future will immediately recognize the natural beauty of this quiet winter scene.

Well done... great work! #8409320

What a great story to go with this most amazing example of determined beauty, Amanda. The thin layer of ice seperating the mill from its reflection gives a sense of suspense, while your timing of the light adds the perfect touch of comfort. Please put out a book of your magnificent photos with the story of the capture for each. What an interesting an inspirational read that would be. I'd love to hear the tractor driver's version of the event, too. Imagine how he tells it down at the lodge. #8427323
