Description

This was taken under a railway overpass in Spokane, Wa. I converted it to a BW image using the lightness channel method discussed by Scott Kelby.

Okay, this is just awesome! I love the B&W....it's not flat at all! And it doesn't look as if it was taken in Spokane but somewhere in ancient times!!! #1485259

Nice job of converting to B/W. You have alot of detail in the shadows which is hard to achieve with B/W. I really like the subject. Isn't Scott Kelby good?? #1485322

Thanks Sanjay, Joline, Donald, Tammy, Guy, Bobbie, Kerby, Karen, Cathy and Carla!:) Joline, the method is in Scott's book "the photoshop cs book for digital photographers" along with many other great tips and techniques! A brief summary is: Change the image mode to Lab color, select the channel tab then the lightness channel, then change the image mode to Greyscale. Then create a duplicate layer and change the normal blend mode to multiply. Your image which is now BW will darken noticeably. Then you move the opacity slider to get the right tonal balance. Hope that helps. #1485659
