Beauty at the Beach

Uploaded: November 18, 2009

Description

The storm that came up the East Coast last week caused pleanty of beach erosion but that hasn't kept Mother Nature from her holiday decorating. Joey and I found this beauty growing in the sand at the Captree Boat Basin. Can anyone identify it for us?

Well, though I never think of it as a beach plant, this just has to be Virginia Creeper, Joe. In Autumn it is a striking sight, usually climing on trees, or creeping along the forest floor. A beautiful capture in this unusual habitat! #1206510

Thanks very much Michelle. This isn't the first time you've helped me identify a plant. Virginia Creeper it is then. I think you're right about the beach being an unusual place to find it because this was the only spot I remember seeing it. #8141015
