NYC BUILDING ART

Uploaded: October 09, 2009

Description

Most of us walk around town on auto pilot, more or less aware of what's going on around us. We look but we don't see and there is so much to see in Manhattan if you want to. Take this fresco for example. I was out there looking and this is what I found in the 30's off Madison Ave. above the entrance to 232 Madison. I don't know what it means but I'd like to and I'm going to try to find out. Many of the older buildings in the city are adorned with art. Builders used to do that kind of thing. It all had meaning to them but much of it has been lost to time. If I can't find out what it means I'll concoct something to entertain you.

Fab capture, Joseph! Great perspective and detail.

I grew up visiting Washington, DC several times a year, and I'm dying to get back there with cameras in hand! I've scoured my little downtown for every architectural detail I can find! #8023904
