Fire Above the Cordillera Negra

Uploaded: August 05, 2009 15:49:54

Description

A tarn near our Laguna Collicocha tent site provided the perfect reflecting pool as the sun sank below the Cordillera Negra in Peru's Cordillera Blanca. I had originally hoped to photograph alpenglow above the Santa Cruz massif to the east, but cloud cover obscured the peaks. I raced back toward the west where compositions were found to compliment the lighting conditions. 3 stop grad. NG filter, hard edge was used to balance the brightness of the scene.
