Four Ecuadorian calla lilies posed in a black vase with gold trim, placed in front of a black velvet background. Two white foam core boards used to add light to sides of vase to prevent merger with background. x1600 White Lighting fired into silver umbrella above and to left of setup to simulate natural light.

this work is expressed in a most beautiful and caring way; imagine for a moment that we see this image and know nothing of how it was made; is not the care taken to produce it obvious; indeed, there is a passionate craftsman behind it! #268190Michael E. Brodie June 24, 2005
My heart is full. Many thanks! #1514641Melissa G. Meiselman August 28, 2006
You have created a beautiful composition with subtle lighting and dazzling colors..I like these flowers against the black background, as well, Michael!!! #3234040Michael E. Brodie August 28, 2006
Thank you so much! I sold an 11x14 version of this to a former coworker, also named Melissa. I printed this at home on Epson Enhanced Matte Paper and had it framed under a black matte with a suede texture and in a black lacquer frame. This had the effect of enlarging the surrounding area and the whole composition seems to float in a dark universe. My friend's reaction to it is something I'll never forget nor will I forget yours or Michael Khoury's. #3234139Laurie Daily January 07, 2007
I can not seem to take my eyes away from this image, Michael. I am drawn to the beautiful simplicity of these lovely callas. An image to take your breath away! #3791343Michael E. Brodie January 07, 2007
Thank you,Laurie! It's one of my favorites, too. I use it for my "signature" photo as it's very much the kind of work I want to be known for. #3791634Wendy Stevenson September 02, 2007

Thank you so much, Wendy! High praise is always welcome, but coming from someone who's images are as strong and artistic as yours are, is a greatly appreciated. Mike #4741572Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
