Description

1/25 sec @ F/5.6, ISO 800, 200mm fl.
Trying out my new D80's capabilities in low light, I used the low light noise reduction menu option and handheld the 55-200mm telephoto zoom VR to get a close-up of this large reptile indoors.

Everything was sharp with little grain despite the spotty low light conditions.

In PSPx2 cropped, applied the DNR option and some spot cloning. Voila.

Exif: F Number: 5.6, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 10/250 seconds, Flash: did not fire., ISO: 800, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 200.00 mm, Model: NIKON D80

Thank you "Achie", I was surprised to see it turn out okay when I had to shoot through some mesh for this one!

Hi Lisa ;-) Thanks for shooting with us m'dear, we'll be sure to meet up again. It really was so great to meet you in person!!! (Psst... Brad Pitt rode the Maid of the Mist yesterday... and we missed him!!! I had to laugh after we talked about him briefly, lol)

You did a great job Christine, the detail is wonderful! He really is fascinating :) Wonderful capture! #7457469

M.Christine Duncan April 27, 2009

Thanks Sherry... the trick seems to be to stand directly infront of it, a fair distance from it though, and to shoot past the mesh squares and focus on the subject behind. I found the right open square I guess :-) A good DOF helps too!

Thank you Ken, I appreciate that! Was sorry to hear you couldn't make it... still on for the waterfalls though?

Thank you Chrisina :-) They had a lovely salad breakfast just before we got there... I think he was content, lol.
