Gator Seen On Swamp Tour
Uploaded: November 08, 2008
Tour guide told us this gator was a 14 footer. Quite large enough to swallow a human. Sorry I only had a 1.3 MP Camera on this tour. Not a great captue. Bill

Thanks for sharing this image with us, Bill! It's still a fantastic capture because of its content! That is one big gator! I'm only 4'10" so he could easily swallow me! I think I'll stay in Toronto! :) #1031880Bill Knaps November 08, 2008

Jeana if a person is older and like some older people being as wide as they are tall he would not be able to swallow them, but if a person is a lean 5' 10" he would suck you up like soup on a spoon. Thank you for your nice comment. Bill #6741924Laura E. Swan November 11, 2008
OM Gosh. That's a scary thought! Jeana, DO NOT GO ON THIS TOUR! Ha! #6742246Bill Knaps November 11, 2008

Thank you Michell and Laura. I appreciate you very much. That gator come on out, but kept his distance from our boat. He would have just loved for one of the tourist or one of their little kid to fall off that boat. He would have grabbed them before we could have got them out the water. Bill #6743478Barbara Waldoch November 12, 2008
Lucky he wasn't hungry :-) Cool catch, Bill! #6748142Bill Knaps November 12, 2008
He was hungry Barbara. He swam out below the surfice then he came up with the length of his body showing. He was quite large. He just lay in wait for something or someone to fall off our boat. For his meal. Thank you Barbara. I appreciate you very much. Bill #6748160Vladan D. Djordjevic November 13, 2008

YIKES - you talk about me and the buffalo - think I would die on the spot if I was close to one of these "dudes".Bill Knaps December 15, 2008
Hi Donna, I watch every step, but mostly for Snakes in the swamp than Gators. Take care with those Buffalo. Bill #6893015Nancyj E. Hovey January 28, 2009
Hey Bill, loooks like you made it home safely... This is an awesome shot...how far away from home were you? Alligators have their dangerous points, but snakes are everywhere as you know. We live in a development of approx 200 bldgs with swamp on 3 sides, and most of the 4th...so snakes and gaters like to be royalty here, and show up at our doors, and sometimes snakes come in with the owners... not fun. We even have big gators like this one. When we do, they end up having the GatorMan take them out at night to relocate them. Unfortunately, one is not allowed to watch or be close enough to take pictures - it distracts trapping and makes the job much more difficult. SO the trapping is done in the middle of the night, setting traps is in daylight. Just wish we could put something around to get rid of snakes... Can't step out of any doorway, or car, without looking at the ground FIRST.... I love this photo...and it is a great reminder... 8o) #7097394Bill Knaps January 28, 2009
New areas that have been cleared and built on are prone to have many snakes Nancy as you have learned. In the woods here I would say there is a snake every few feet somewhere. You don't see them every few feet, but they are there. This gator was seen on a New Orleans Swamp tour which was across the river from New Orleans. 6 hours from me Nancy.
