Autumn Glow

Uploaded: November 08, 2008

Description

I cropped this section out of a larger photo because I thought the diagonal slashes of the branches looked particularly dramatic against the combination of brilliant gold and green leaves. Then, I though it might look even better done in a painterly sort of technique, so I used a palette knife effect, boosted the brightness, contrast, and saturation, and played with the colors, increasing the yellow, red, and green. I really liked the results, but I don’t have too much experience with effects, so I would welcome your comments, both positive and negative, and any suggestions you might have to offer.

By the way, the original shot was taken in a charming little park near the 13th century watch tower in the Durlach section of Karlsruhe, Germany. If you climb the tower on a clear day (which we did), you’ll enjoy fantastic views in all directions. And if you look west, you can see all the way to France!

Nicely presented, Jean, with the angle of the branch you've used, and the effects so effectively give the soft, warm feel of autumn light. #6729711
