Memories and Shadows

Uploaded: January 23, 2003

Description

It took me over 30 tries to get the desired effect. I took the photo of my husband in 1997 two months before he died. I took the mementos out of the wooden box he made for me. The broken shell has a 'love' inscription he had wrote on and given to me 3 weeks prior. We had been married 21 years.

Judy,
This is a very moving image -- it says so much. It really is the 'littles things' in life that matter most. God blesses us in so many ways. Thanks for sharing your photography.
God Bless,

Thanks so much. I can't say all 21 years were wonderful, some of those years were very hard, we had the tears as well as the laughter. But we got thru them and in the end, it truly was the little things that counted. I've never been materialistic so he could not win me over with jewelry or other types of gifts, and I'm especially glad now I was that way because these mememtos I do have, are worth more than any piece of jewelry or other fancy gift. Thanks so much for the thoughful comments. JSay :') #65151

Judy,
One more comment I would like to make. This image brought to mind something our pastor said a couple of Sundays ago. He said that Jesus taught that in God's kingdom things are upside down from the world's perspective. Aboard the Titanic (the world) a huge diamond would have been the most desirable and valuable thing -- but in one of the life boats (God's kingdom) how valuable would such a diamond be compared to a fresh orange??? A good message I think, and your image speaks to that very strongly. Thanks again for sharing such a moving image.
God Bless,
Greg

Thanks so much for your moving comment. I am an avid Bible student and regularly go to meetings. I truly feel that God's Kingdom is the thread that starts with the prophecy at Genesis 3:15 and winds itself thru the rest of the Bible. It is the hope that Abraham and other early servants kept before them. It is the hope that Jesus preached. Knowing that the God's Word is impossible to fail, it is the hope that keeps me going as well. Thanks again, Judy :)))) #69186
