Kingly Tribute
Uploaded: October 12, 2008
On the north side of Strasbourg Cathedral in the Alsace region of France, stained glass windows depict 19 emperors, from Charles Martel to Frederick II. (I believe they are German emperors, as Alsace was often part of Germany. And I believe the ones shown may be, from left to right, Charles Martel, Charlemagne, Pippin, and Frederick II. I can’t swear to this, however, as the old lettering, though clear, is hard to decipher.)
Most of the church’s stained glass was made in the 12th through 14th centuries, and some other windows have missing rectangles covered with glass that has a yellowish wash on it. Seventy-four cases of stained glass were removed by the Nazis in World War II and stored in a salt mine near Heilbronn. Fortunately, they were returned by the U.S. military following the war.

you are funny Jean... yes, Strasbourg and Colmar are very close by. I went to both on the same trip, but I did not take any good pics inside the Strasbourg Cathedral... :-(KARU WIJESUNDARA. A.N.P.A.S. October 12, 2008
