Description

Cone flower from my MIL's garden this summer. Cropped, contrasted, and slight saturation.

I would like to play with this some and resubmit it....any suggestions?? My one thought is that the pink in the upper right corner is distracting but so far my attempts to remove it have been unsuccessful.

Jeanine- Understand about the being busy and sometimes we just have to let some things take a back seat and set priorities.
The cone plant is one of my favorite. Had them back in Wisconsin and will plant some this next year down here. Catchy title with the squared framing. Beautiful closeup of the fasinating centerpiece. Love them spikes. Beautiful colors, fabulous details, excellent ligting and clarity.
Sensational work.
You take care of yourself, visit as you can, have a most wonderful day #6483055

beautiful comp jeanine. if your concerned about the pink, maybe try using a desaturation brush on it? that's the only suggestion I can think of but maybe someone else might have a better idea. congrats on the EP! #7150292

Well deserved kudos all around Jeanine. This is a lovely composition and deserving of the award.

By the way, I don't have you on my list for which post processing software you use. Are you using a variation of Photoshop?

Jodi mentioned the color in the background and I agree that softening it a little more would reduce the distraction. However for me, the hair (or web) wrapped around the left side of the center of the flower is much more distracting. Try cloning it out and take this image to "finalist" #7150869

Beautiful shot, Jeannine. I have WÁY TOO MANY pics of coneflowers but I still keep taking them...We needed a picture of this wonderful flower in the dead of winter. No suggestions because I think it is perfect! #7151156

Jeanine M. Bailey February 10, 2009

Thanks for all of the encouraging comments!! Glad to help bring some smiles to people today!!! :) Thank you also for the suggestions....Jodi, I had NOT thought of desaturating the pink some!! :) I agree Dale that the little hair is distracting so I'll also work on removing that as well!! Oh and I'm working with Photoshop Elements 6. Thanks again!! I'll repost this once I make the changes and see what you all think!!! #7151392
