I Was Here First

Uploaded: July 20, 2008

Description

I enjoy watching and photographing dragonflies at the local pond. I've watched their aerial acrobatics, seen their graceful poses, and heard the clashing of their wings as they aggressively defend their territory. But I saw something yesterday that I had never seen before. Here a Blue Dasher is perched in an obelisk position. A Four-spotted Pennant came along and briefly landed on the tip of the Blue Dasher's abdomen.

Mid-Day on 07/19/08 with a bright sun directly overhead.

Ken it just doesn't happen any better than this. They are even different colors. What great time and a great capture. Fabulous exposure and DOF. #964280

What a happy capture for you. They are in great position with respect to the twig and there is nice repetition in the wings to create a great design.....and that's in addition to beautiful color, clarity and pov! Thank you for sharing. #6203200
