Thank you! I really appreciate everyone's sweet and supportive feedback.
This shoot was a real joy-of-a-learning experience for me. I was able to learn a bit about the bees' behaviors AND lessen my fear of these guys.
(My hubby and kids just figured I had really lost my mind this time; sitting with my camera, amongst the bees and wasps.)
What we photographers won't do in the quest for that great shot!!!

Lisa- Good evening my friend. There is a fasination of capturing bee's on flowers and trying to catch them in mid-air. I love trying to do that. I must say that nothing I have come up with even begans to come close to the clarity and the stunning definitions you have captured here. Incredible work. When they are interested in the nectar they really don't pay you any mind. The colors are so rich and done with perfection. Love the lighting and clarity.

Christine, a "Puffer" is a flash diffuser by Gary Fong, that can be attached to many cameras with a hotshoe and built-in flash. Enhances the light/ lessens the shadows. I found it when shopping for lighting for macros. Figured I'd try out this much cheaper (about $25) solution. Someday, I may get a ring flash or Nikon's close-up flash kit, but, for now, I'm really happy with my little "Puffer."

Most worthy of an EP ..... and more!!!!!

Straight from the D80 eh?! You have just proved to the world the high quality this camera can produce in close-up work - not a speck of Noise in sight - and also just how important a diffuser is.
Very sharp, with a good depth of field, lovely bokeh, great exposure, good natural colours, this member of the Hymenoptera family is displayed well with its nice tight composition.
