The setting and the couple are quintessentially Parisian.
Originally entered in July, 2007, and later revised, I entered this version in March, 2008. It did not pick up the EP so I entered it in the cash contest where it got an honorable mention. Thought I'd try it in Monthly Theme -- this looks like the ultimate friendship to me :) Re-submitted 02/13/10

I love the sepia tone. two versions, I noticed that the second has a light right behind the lovers' heads, whereas the first one does not. I'd prefer to see the second version without that extra street light. Just an opinion.

I'm glad it's not more rectangular; I think maybe it would look too squished if it were. I remember this image from the summer, Nikki--it's awesome, and really says "Paris" to me! Excellent job of straightening the lamppost. The sepia tones are gorgeous. #5635109

You know what? I looked at them both again. I have always been thoroughly taken with both shots. The shot captures a strong and utterly engaging story-telling moment, at a wonderful place and from a wonderful perspective. And I know that you changed things and did lens corrrections things and all like that. And I know that you changed the tone too, and stuff and stuff. But really, it's the moment that's important. And I honestly don't know that the second, the finalist, is better really. It is just great as it is originally. I'm pleased though that this finally has been recognized for the wonderful capture of the moment that it is. #8490826
