O.K. Enough of you two this morning.......

Description

f/5.0, 1/1600, 70-300mmVR @90mm, Miami, DSC_6281.jpg, 8:12 AM, ISO 400

I captured this trio of Royal Terns on an overcast Sunday morning on Miami's South Beach. They are seen here in there non-breeding plumage. These birds were part of a larger group of maybe 50. They are use to people and had a comfort zone of maybe 10 feet. I noticed little identity rings around the ankles on a few of them. The camera was hand-held and this image has not been cropped. I sharpened it along with some other minor adjustments with iPhoto. I also like to shoot with the camera in the vivid mode at this time of day, especially if I expect to see some wild coloring as I did here in the bird's beaks and sky color. Hey............. it's the tropics Mon. Enjoy!

I like when you get down on the birds level. You must have been laying on the ground for this. Great capture of this "discussion". #5492026

Patrick (aka candyman), Thanks for your comment as always!

Eivor, Thank you as well. In regards to my positioning for the shot, I just sit indian style and then bend forward a little. But sometimes, as here, I actually hand held the camera just above the sand and snapped a few off as the camera was all set and I just had to wait for the beep (autofocus confirmation) before depressing the shutter button the rest of the way. It's takes a little trial and error to get things level and framed but it's really not to hard. You can practice with a dog or cat out in the yard or on the carpet at home. You can get some interesting POV shots like this. And hey, it's digital so just fire away. I probably took 450+ shots that morning. #5492133

Nice shot Michael....just beautiful! I do love this POV. It makes me feel like I am involved with the birds instead of just looking at them. Once again the colors and light are brilliant! #5494917
