Description

Braced my back against the rear wall and held my breath, then squeezed one off at 1/4 second at around f-11. I was pleasantly surprised after developing to find no camera shake at all. Standard Kodacolor 400 film,
28mm lens.

A remarkable image, A J. The composition you have chosen creates great depth and draws me into the image. I am most struck by the texture and quality of light. Is this the result of using film, or do you achieve this in your digital processing?

The quick answer Steve is, "both". I Originally took this a couple of years ago B4 I went digital on a roll of off the shelf Wal Mart Kodacolor. I spent a lot of time in scanning the negative first and then doing what Photoshop was designed for, turning "snapshots" into works of art.....Fortunately for me, I have the luxury of being able to spend as much time as neccessary until I get it to where I think it's right....which sometimes might take days or even weeks.

In this case, I first "selected" upwards of 30 or 40 areas of the image individually and then corrected each one separately for density and color balance. If I'm lucky, at the end of the process everything balances out perfectly. #5311099

This image suggests you are a lucky man. :) I assume you are using masking to select the areas for adjustment. Do you scan your own images? I just upgraded to a Nikon Coolscan V. #5311236

Masking? Never used one in my life, don't know how.....There's a LOT of things I still don't know how to do in Photoshop but thanks to this site, I'm starting to learn.

Used to scan my own negatives in an Epson 2400 before the element burned out. That disgusted me so I went out and bought a digital camera instead...that'll teach 'em. #5311454
