Oh, Christmas Tree

Uploaded: December 10, 2007

Description

A Christmas tree worm. A tube-dwelling worm that lives in the coral reefs of the tropics and come in a multitude of colors. When their plumes are extended, as in this photo, they’re feeding on suspended particles, or plankton, in the water. This particular worm is about 1” tall.

Underwater shot taken during the day in Curacao using 105mm lens, at f22 & 1/125. External strobes were used for lighting the subject.
