Selecting the very moment a strike will happen within the camera frame is a great trick, and as all tricksters know I will not ask how you knew when to open the shutter. However I am wonderinng what the technical settings where at in order to capture this particular immage. f stop, focal length and so forth. Great Job with this one. #172990

terry,

hey there. sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. first of all, I made this image with a nikon d70 so that is definitely something to keep in mind. I kept my left eye open looking for the lightning striking in different places... I experimented with exposure (checking the lcd on the back to see if I was headed in the right direction)... then when I had my exposure where I wanted it, it was just waiting for the right strike. it was a fantastic storm, so you only had to wait a minute or so for a huge lightning display. plenty of time and opportunity to shoot many many pictures. this particular shot is 1/250, f2.8 200mm. thanks for the comment. keep up the good work
