Hi Nancy: I definitely agree with everyone - a well-deserved congratulations ... this is such a terrific image! In fact, this shot makes an awesome selection for BetterPhoto's monthly "Where in the World?" quiz. It will be featured in the September issue of BP's PhotoFlash newsletter!

So please don't give it away, Nancy - let's see if anyone can come up with the correct answer! Several days after PhotoFlash is published, I'll check back to see how things are going.

Thanks for the guess, Gail! It's funny you said that... I've spent some time in the Andes in Peru, and although this place is on a completely different part of the planet, the landscape and even the architecture reminded me so much of the Andes.

Hi everyone! Yes, this was definitely one of the more difficult "Where in the World?" quizzes! But, as Nancy points out, it's definitely an interesting place - and, as we can see, an incredibly beautiful one, too. And, Steve, it looks like you certainly came closest with your guess.


Here's the word from Nancy on this remote place of the world: "It was shot in Southwest China, Sichuan province (known for its spicy foods), in the foothills of the Himalayas. You have to take a couple of rustic buses and trucks and then hike a bit to get out there. The huts below were built by the Yi minority group."
