This huge volcanic rock was formed in Pliocene times over 3,000,000 years ago. It rises 1,700 feet above the surrounding plain and is famed in the legends of the Navajo as tse' bit' a 'i (the rock with wings). They thought it was the great bird that brought them from the north. 1/200s, f/10, ISO 100 Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS Lens at 70mm, with Polarizing filter. Great job one the PS Tim, I couldn't get the power lines out. #723933Tim L. Hansen August 27, 2007
Thanks Randy. The key is to shoot from the South on the road to Redrock. No powerlines there! I grew up in Shiprock. Just got back yesterday from my 40 year reunion! Shot this on the way home. Wish I could have had better clouds, light, etc., but...you take what you have. . .right? You have some great shots! I love the southwest! Great work! :0) Tim #4709096

What a fabulous scenic capture this is, Tim - WOW!! I really LOVE the lighting AND the sky/clouds here...and the depth, colours, textures, details and composition all are outstanding, too!! :o) #6839353Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
