Aka Jima Bridge

Uploaded: August 17, 2007

Description

autofocus, the Aka Jima Bridge Karama Islands, Okinawa Japan, late morning, July. Aka JIma is stunning! The water color around these tiny tropical islands is jaw dropping. The water is clear, and unpolluted. The best place to dive and snorkel.

No, I live in CA. Our son lived in Okinawa for 7 years, so we were able to go visit. Aka Jima is in the Kerama Islands just west of Okinawa. It is a gorgeous place to snorkel and swim, with very few tourists. #5293878

Songbird
AkaJima is relatively untouched compared to the main island, stop telling people about it. Its a secret... Its really fantastic there. Heading there this summer. Unfortunately some of the best reefs have been killed off by strong typhoons and lack of typhoons. ANyway I love this place. I also recommend Miyako Jima and Taketomi.
Aloha
PS I love this bridge for star gazing because no mosquitoes make there way up there. There wasnt a bridge there when I first visited. Cant believe they spent so much money on a bridge with so little traffic. Used to be a marine ferry to get to the other island and access the small airport. #5908160
