Bagpipes do not originate from Scotland alone. They have rich tradition in the
Bohemian region of the Czech Republic. A documentary tracing the history of the
Bohemian bagpipe, called dudy, was produced and co-directed by Jeffrey Brown,
and bagpiper Mike Cwach—“Call of Dudy: Bohemian Bagpipes Across Borders.”
We met by chance when the two demonstrated
the unique musical instrument at the Cuba, Kansas library.
