Description

Two of the 6 minarets are visible here at the Sultan Ahmet Mosque, a.k.a. the famous Blue Mosque. A minaret is a slender tower built along side of a mosque from which the 'call to prayer' brings the believers. The Blue Mosque in Istanbul has 6 minarets.

Beneath the long wall of columns visible here, are the public fountains from where believers can practice the art of abultion in preparation for prayer.
