Hi Marta, I'm amazed that I'm the first person to comment on this photo... I love it - it's both very interesting and unsettling at the same time - which is a compliment. I love offbeat photos and this is a great one - the books are a perfect background in this image too. #683064

Thanks so much, John! While I've always had Annie (and her friend, a full-bodied boy mannequin; Annie only has a torso) around for material, the idea for this portrait in particular came from a mannequin portrait at a friends house. I saw it twenty times before I realized it wasn't a real person, and when I realized it wasn't I was totally freaked out- mannequins and dolls are creepy to me. Annie's lifelessness is more obvious, but I'm glad you find it unsettling because that's something I was going for. Also, I'm glad someone else appreciates the boooks in the background, because, while I didn't set anything up, I loved them there, too. #4461837

Well, like John I find this portrait of Annie very interesting, but rather than unsettling, for me it's delightfully quirky. I love the whole composition and the use of black & white. I take it that Annie's quite a reader. Excellent work, Marta! #4858521
