Sunset at Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada

Uploaded: August 29, 2002 20:03:02

Description

This picture does not do justice to the sunset. The sky was on fire on this particular night. Photo was taken with a Canon D30 in program mode with a 28-90mm lens.

Thank you for your comment Kathleen. If you've never been to Peggy's Cove, it's a photographers paradise. I was told that the sky looks like this every evening. I will definitely be making a return trip. #12820

This looks like a postcard. Great pic. #12831

Thanks Keith. You just gave me a great idea for this picture! I'm new to photography, so I have trouble accepting compliments but appreciate them greatly. I would definitely love to do this full time. #12834

You did a beautiful job. From the compositon to the lighing. Just a wonderful picture. Keep up the good work.

Hello Craig. Thanks for your comments as well. I can't get over the positive response to this photo. It was certainly one of those moments when you just know you have to take a picture. I was eating supper in the restaurant when I turned to see the sunset. Needless to say, I dropped my fork and was out the door with my camera! #12838

Thanks, glad you liked it. I'm just a lucky person to live here where all the weather happens. We get a lot of colors and stuff..good thing, or I don't know what I'd do.. #12896

Congrats on your finals!! #13877

Stunning!!
I like the way the photo is but if you have Photoshop, have you tried masking the sky and making adjustments to foreground and sky to get it the way you think best shows this photo. Personally, any changes would take away from this superb image.

Kathleen, Carolyn and Adam - Thank you so much for your comments. Being new to photography and making it to the finals has given me a real boost.

Adam: I would liked to have had the lighthouse and foreground a bit more visible, but am not familiar with using Photoshop. I just loaded it on my computer last night and will try different techniques on this photo to see what it's capable of. I tried lightening the photo, but it really took away from the intensity of the sky. #14304

You're new to this... well "HOT DANG" then even more praise for you! I myself am fairly new to this and I know how I felt when one of my images came runner up. There are many great people on this site full of knowledge and help and to be recognised in this group was a better feeling than entering a local comp. Can't wait to see more of your work.

Kimberley, I stumbled across this photo and absolutely love it. I have been searching for a new picture for my living room for a while and would like to purchase a copy of it, if that is at all possible. Again, excellent photo. #360916
