Found this shot in my own garden

This photo is awsome Carol. It's amazing what you can find in your own private environment if you look. I love the background or should I say the lack of background. The only thing that bothers me is the color. I love it but is it real? I have never seen a blue Iris. This is very artistic piece. Great work. #9197Donna R. Moratelli September 13, 2002
Oops. Forgot to mention that this is my favorite one so far.. #14673Carol Engstrom September 13, 2002
Thanks for your comments Donna. This was one of the first pictures I took with my SLR camera where I was trying to have a shallower depth of field. I was really surprised at how the background turned out. There was some empty space behind the flowers and then a bush. Actually the color isn't that far off. I've always thought of these as blue and gold--I did make the whole picture somewhat more color saturated though. I was trying to remember if they were really purple or something, (since they aren't in bloom now) but every picture I have shows them in varing shades of blue. I've had plants change blossom colors here before. Maybe this is a result of our wierd soil! #14675Cathy M. Gromball May 26, 2019

Thanks Cathy--this is probably my first flower close-up that actually turned out decent. Still like it. #33379Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
