Changing of the Guard

Uploaded: March 06, 2007

Description

The Great Blue Heron parents share in the responsibilities of watching over the nest and going out hunting. The two change roles in the early morning and again later in the afternoon. This changing of the guard occurred in the morning. A couple of days after I took this picture I saw 2 babies in this nest. 80-400mm Nikon VR at 400mm, F8.0, 1/1600 sec., ISO 800. Wakodahatchee Wetlands, FL.
