I simply love this, Norman...the oils are so well rendered. I have done many like this using Painter software. You can find them on my website in the folder called fine arts. #3980764Norman P. Banks February 23, 2007
Hey Melissa! The concept for this image was suggested by a picture of a child that I took in florida who had eyes so wide and intense that they seemed to look right thru to the core of things.

You're getting so colorful, Norm! I really like the brush strokes and I want you to teach me how to do them if you can.At first I saw a fierce bird looking to the right. Then I read your comment and spotted the child. If it's any comfort to you, my wife saw the child immediately. This reminds me of that famous painting The Scream. There is a profound intensity here.

Hey Steve, thanks for the great comments buddy!I'd say, the Feminine Aspect of Commpassion revealed the child to your wife right away.
The oils/brush strokes were created by importing a textured background into Art Rage and using the palette knife tool to smear the colors.
I then exported the result as a PSD file into photoshop and worked it into a composite with the photograph of the child.
I think you have Art Rage, but I'm not sure if you have use of all the tools if you dont have the full version. However you may have a simular tool in your other paint program.

Hey Paul, thank you!To answer your question, I'm not sure how this image would translate to canvas. I'll have to go onto imagekind and use their render engine to get an idea.
I did an image of a cycling race in philly called "Racing Tapestry" that you can view on the last page of my gallery.
In addition to other FX, I applied a canvas filter to it, which gave it a printed on canvas look. I then had a 16x20 print made and matted and it now hangs in a local bicycle shop in my neighborhood.
