This is quite a striking image, Norm. The composition is excellent and the layer effect and shading are something I really want to learn how to do.

The colors are also appealing. Do I detect a saturation broadside here? :)

Hey Steve, thanks for stopping by and commenting!
The original capture was taken last year in South Florida at a place called Flamingo Gardens. (I think that was the name) #3854341

Whoa... hit the wrong button, I think! Wasnt through blabb'n. (smile)

As I was about to say, the shot was almost full body and had some artifacts in it that I wanted to remove. I color edited, converted the image with the dry brush filter, then layered over a dark grungy texture and blended using overlay. The result was ok, but I still wanted to mess around.(mischevious grin)

I like to play around with ArtRage and make color splotches which I save to use as blend-in backgrounds.

I opened a file to see how it would look, but instead of dragging it onto the eagle, I did the opposite and since it was a larger document, the face became prominent, and I had my composition.

The rest involved layer blending, dodging and burning certain areas, a little spot cloning and finding a nice rough border.

Thank you very much, Ugur!

The full body image was nice, but didnt have quite the drama of the isolated head with the eye!

Norm, I saw this image at least a week ago, and I thought I had commented on it, but see I did not. I really like your effects and colors on this noble bird! It's a wonderful closeup! #3939508
