Lightning

Uploaded: August 07, 2006

Description

I was lucky to have an opportunity like this! There was a lightning storm nearby while we were driving, so I whipped out my camera, set the shutter speed to 15 seconds, pointed it out the window, and shot. The lightning was so fast that there was no blur, even with a 15 sec. shutter speed. Cropped, but with no other editing.
The swirls around the lightning (below the clouds) are what looks like rain.

Manual exposure control, F2.8, ISO equivalent 80, handheld, no flash.

Very unusual cloud patrern with lightning.Great capture. Will try that technique with next lightning storm. #3389671

Thank you very much. It is an unusual cloud pattern, almost like a swirl. The longer you have the shutter open, the more lightning you can capture in one photo. This photo was just one strike, though. #3392395
