Like my Foliage picture, this is also NOT a flower, but the flower spike. The flowers will be blue. I'll try to shoot them as they bloom.

Thoughts? This is sort of a new look for me. #486009Melissa G. Meiselman July 17, 2006
Hate to be tough, but the past few florals are out of focus...to stand out as excellent they have to be right on the money as far as sharpness is concerned. In any said shoot, I have many that are a little off...those get deleted. You need to set higher standards, Tricia!!! #3042477Tricia L. Olson-Giles July 17, 2006
Thanks Melissa. I'm using Autofocus too. Any hints from other botanical photographers? This one looked sharp in PS and I sharpened it a tad. Maybe it's partially the upload to hear, because they're coming from such big RAW files down to JPEGs for here. I don't know. :( I'd love some help. #3042543Candice C. Calhoun July 17, 2006
I like this photo...you took a nice interesting angle on the subject, including the shadow which adds interest. I also like the soft color and texture variations. If you would like to email me, I would be happy to share a couple tips with you.

This is a beautiful shade of pink, Tricia. I thought it was a cactus flower! I don't know anything about 'raw', so I don't have any advice, but I'm sure Candice can help you. Good luck. #3047563Bill Wyatt July 19, 2006
Fantastic details, colors and lighting, Tricia! #3049215Shelly A. Van Camp July 22, 2006
Very pretty and nice details! #3062696Tricia L. Olson-Giles July 22, 2006
Thanks guys. I agree with all of you, there are some great qualities to this, but I'd like it sharper too, and appreciate Melissa's honesty every time. :)Btw, I'm going to TRY to get my Pro website up here this weekend. Candice is mentoring me now, so we'll see what happens. #3062722

Great composition. And beautiful colors and lighting. I really like it. #3063589Tricia L. Olson-Giles July 22, 2006

Beautiful perspective and a lovely capture of this flower Tricia! #3103293Tricia L. Olson-Giles July 31, 2006
Thanks Kristi. That's actually the flower spike. It's in bloom now with blue flowers. I experimented with my new Lensbaby 2.0 this weekend on that same plant. I'll try to post those tonight. I'm experimenting with a much more abstract and soft approach. First day of experimenting with the new gadget is interesting...good...I don't know. But interesting. #3105142Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
