Rachel E. Slepekis July 16, 2006

Really pretty lighting Mike : )
If it was me, I might sharpen this a little. But that is a matter of taste. Even a little soft like this is really nice : ) #3037998

Mike Rubin July 17, 2006

Thanks for the comments Renaee and Rachel. I was concerned about making it too sharp since it's a flower. Flower images are not my best, although I'm learning. #3039211

Carol Teal July 21, 2006

Mike, this is my favorite from the new ones you posted. I like the sunlight on the petals of this one. Very nice job! As far as the softness and sharpness, that is what I am not sure about. I have seen both, so maybe it is a matter of one's taste. #3060922

Mike Rubin July 21, 2006

Thanks Carol, I could say that the softness is my artistic flare BUT the truth is I was afraid to apply USM in fear of overkill. :) #3060975

Carol Teal July 21, 2006

Well, I guess you could make sure to keep an original and practice with the USM. If I ever get a macro lens and want to take flower photos, I will have to look for a good book or Internet articles on the subject because I am really not sure what is the best way. I see soft ones that people like on BP and then I see sharp ones. I have seen both sharp and softer and I have liked both. I guess it is what looks best to your eye because you know what mood you are trying to convey. :D #3061229
