Good Morning,
I am still working to understand my camera better and how and when to change what. I could use some help on understanding noise and ISO???? LOL
yes I am new to this does it show.

Tami, take it off auto.
ISO was and still used to denote film speed, and it is used in digital as well.
100-1600 being the speeds.
100= light and bright, 1600= poor light.(or somthing like that)
How can you see the difference? take photographs of the same scene under different light.

Tami,
As far as how ISO relates to noise, the higher the ISO the more noise / grain you will get. With that in mind, you should always use the slowest (lowest number) ISO you can get away with.

I’m not sure about Olympus, but if you shot in P mode doesn’t the camera pick the ISO for you? :)

I apologize for my delay, since I shoot action most of the time I do not use P much. Yes it does pick different ISO for almost every shot I take????

Big pat on the back to you all, I have been working with changing settings, figuring out what some of the settings do or do not do for me LOL, thank you all I just needed that push. So now I am looking for the monster book that came with my camera.
