Thank you all for your very nice comments! Photographing animals is very much like photographing children -- you have to 'play their game'. I tried tried to get 'Prissy' to sit on the stool several times and she instantly jumped off. So I held her in my arms until she jumped out on her own -- the stool was the closest thing to jump on, and she just sat down!
