Interesting choice of sepia tone to create this dramatic display! This is actually a skyline view of Honolulu on the left and stretching across Waikiki to the famous landmark known as the most famous volcanic crater in the world, Diamond Head, located on the South-east Coast of O'ahu at the end of Waikiki overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It was originally named Laeahi (lie-ah-he) by the ancient Hawaiians. The name meant "brow of the tuna" and looking at the silhouette of the crater from Waikiki, you can see the resemblance. The current name was given to the crater by British sailors in the 1800's. When they first saw the crater at a great distance, the calcite crystals in the lava rock appeared to glimmer in the sunlight. The sailors mistakenly thought there must be diamonds in the soil. Diamond Head is a crater that has been extinct for 150,000 years. The crater is 3,520 feet in diameter with a 760-foot summit.
Excellent panoramic view!

Aloha!

Thank you so much for the beautiful comments you have given to my hubby Sumi, he was not really expecting this kind and encouraging response from professional photographers like you (Stan and Laura).Honestly, He does not even know that I have posted this Panoramic Picture that he loves so much. When I paged him this morning about it he was really very happy to know of your responses. He loves photography so much and takes alot of pictures of the beautiful Islands of Hawaii. In behalf of Sumi, thank you so much...

Mahalo
