This is truly beautiful, Dale. I wouldn't change a thing. Glad you arrived safely and are capturing the sights. #1562998

thank you Susan. It rained all the way there (five hour drive) and I almost turned around, but it stopped raining two miles from Morro Bay.

Here is another from that morning. #10972219

I know you are not complaining about the rain but disappointed. but look at the beautiful sky it brought with it. Out of the two images I really like your second post best even though the sky is more beautiful. I like the feel of actually seeing more details of the boats and of thinking about them getting ready for the day of fishing. great shots #10972230

Dale Hardin February 10, 2014

Thank you, Rita. The idea of perhaps shooting in the rain is the main reason I did not turn around. I thought it might produce some unusual images.

Here is another taken about 1/2 hour later. #10972277

All of your shots are very nice, Dale. I hope you are able to get a bunch more while you are there. #10972399

Dale Hardin February 10, 2014

Thanks, Kalena. I am already home and going through the shots so I can update my blog. #10972536

Nice images, Dale. When can I come? #10972590

Stephen Shoff February 10, 2014

Very nice, Dale. I like the blues in the water and a nice progression of tonality from upper left to lower right.

I wonder if you couldn't find a way to bring out the warmer tones in the buildings along the waterfront that are just beginning to show some morning color. #10972605

Dale Hardin February 10, 2014

anytime, Debbie. I have a guest room and it's only 5 hours up to Morro bay and in the middle is Santa Barbara, so there is a lot to shoot along the way.

Stephen, thanks a lot. If you look closely at the buildings that are exposed to the sunrise, you will see that they do have warm color compared to those facing the bay. But if you think it would help, it would be easy to add. #10972734

Stephen Shoff February 10, 2014

Yes, I did see that. That is why I thought there might be opportunity to bring it out a little more strongly. #10972831

Very, very nice work, Dale. #10972840

Excellent work, Dale! #10973134

Anthony L. Mancuso February 11, 2014

Very nice Dale..I love the rich tones but I do think the shadows could be opened up just a bit on both...the lower right side of the boat detail shot has a good deal of solid black without any visible detail, but no one else has mentioned that so perhaps it is just my monitor. #10973146

Dale Hardin February 11, 2014

Susan, thank you very much.

Joy, thanks, and congratulations on your win.

Thank you, Jeff.

Dale Hardin February 11, 2014

Thank you Tony. I checked on the raw of that image and that area is solid black, so could not open it any. However, I did brighten the shot some and maybe that will help, even though it was darker in reality, than the fix shows. #10973224

Dale Hardin February 11, 2014

Stephen, here is the correction. Hope this is what you meant. #10973226

Stephen Shoff February 11, 2014

That is the direction I was suggesting. I don't know how far you can or want to take it. #10973580

I think both of the edits are improvements Dale.. #10973952

Just catching up-really beautiful, and the edits are an improvement. I like the details you can see in the pics. I need to shoot more at sunrise/sunset. Can't wait to see more! #10974303

Dale Hardin February 12, 2014

Thanks, Elaine. Have some more on my blog and will be adding additional images tomorrow. #10974344

Nice Capture, Dale. Beautiful colors. #10977487

Dale Hardin February 16, 2014

Thank you Lucy. You'll have to come down sometime and visit the area. It would give another excuse to go back. #10977571
