This tanager was captured during one of my trips through Bosque del Apache earlier this year. I remember the first one I spied as a new westerner a few decades ago. I was in awe of the bird back then -- and still am each time I see one now days. #10881056

I would so love to catch a glimpse of this beautiful bird. Once, a very long time ago, I saw a scarlet tanager and never forgot the thrill of the sighting. The western is just incredible with it's vibrant coloring. Super shot, Thomas! (Hope you and Bootsie both are faring well!) #10882932
