Very effective abstract, Stephen. I can pick out the Tulip Glass, but don't understand the reference to the ice. Interesting choice of reflective coloring especially since the ice reference suggests blue. #1545740

This is a highly-cropped picture of a several foot diameter chunk of glacial ice on display at the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor center a couple of years ago. The colors are the actual reflected colors in the ice. #10852818

Thanks for the explanation. Now it makes sense. I thought you had taken an image of a tulip glass and ice. #10852842

This is really cool, Stephen (sorry, bad pun). I like the mysterious feel to it. #10852917

I love the colors, tones, lines and curves. It's nicely blended for a close-crop. I also like the square crop. Nice work, Stephen. #10852966

very interesting shot Stephen but for me I like the bottom half but find the top half a distraction from the nice curves you capture from the tulip glass. #10853179

Is that a fatal flaw in this image, Rita, or is there something that I might try in order to resolve it? #10853227

I would liken it to closer to the rest of the image so its not a distraction

Interesting image Stephen. I personlly would like a little more DOF, but it works OK as shown because it is so abstract. #10853981

I don't see the difference in the two photos...

What's the reference to the tulip glass?

I do like this one for all the reasons stated above. Really well done Stephen. #10854932

I have a set of small, slightly stemmed glass ice cream bowls of the sort you would get ice cream in a restaurant or ice cream parlour. My undrstanding is those are called tulip glasses. You see that outline coming up from the bottom of the frame spreading out in wide petals along the top, particularly on the left side.

I had darkened the band along the top of the frame to try to bring out the fluted contours. In the edit, I backed off that contrast adjustment just a bit, particularly in the darkest area just to the left of center. #10854947

Oh-thank you for both explanations!!! I get it and see it now. #10854969
