That's funny! I like this one! #1526553

Jeff E Jensen May 02, 2013

Whoa, that's a lot of Dales. . . #10679458

Dale Hardin May 02, 2013

Thanks Kalena. This is the challenge for this month so get busy. :o)

Jeff, the more the merrier, they always say. Just noticed that it isn't straight. Which one of those guys goofed!!?? #10679463

Susan Williams May 02, 2013

Dale, I am really impressed with this creative composite and admit to having no clue as to how you did it so effectively. Since I am the newbie, perhaps you will offer some tips. #10679652

Arthur Bohlmann May 02, 2013

Hahahahaha! Very funny and great editing #10679745

Rita K. Connell level-classic May 02, 2013

this is perfect I have been wanting to do this since last summer. I just not sure about doing myself. that's why I take the pictures!

I like the dale thats in the other room always smiling #10679787

Dale Hardin May 02, 2013

Hi Susan, and welcome to our little family. This is a fairly easy procedure that just takes a bit of planning. Use a tripod, shoot in manual so that the exposure, focus and light are constant. Then just take a different shot for each position.

Later, put each shot on it's own layer, apply a clipping mask, use black to get rid of the figure on that layer and then invert the mask. Do that for each figure except the on on the background layer. #10679792

Dale Hardin May 02, 2013

Thanks a lot Art. It was fun.

Rita, I'd like to do this with a model as well but didn't have one except this old guy. #10679793

Susan Williams May 02, 2013

Wow, Dale, thanks for the "how to." Yikes!

I am looking for my "what do you have to lose?" hat.

Dale Hardin May 02, 2013

Anxious to see your result Susan. You'll notice that it is this month's challenge. #10679842

Usman M. Bajwa level-classic May 03, 2013

Pretty cool stuff, Dale. Wanted to try it too and this months challenge just gonne nudge me to do it. Thanks for explaining the technique too.

UB. #10679998

Dale Hardin May 03, 2013

Thanks Usman. Some of you have cameras that will do double exposures. Mine won't. But if yours does, try different things like your face over image of a leaf, or a "ghost" shot in a doorway or window, etc. The challenge is for any type of multiple imaging.

Get creative. #10680336

Elaine Hessler May 03, 2013

I LOVE this!!! It gives me more of an idea of your personal life, what you look like, and where you live. It is really cute too. I am looking forward to seeing what everyone does. And thank you for telling us how to accomplish this-I didn't know which way would be the easiest. Now I have to think about what I want to reveal about myself.... Ha ha. #10680685

Susan Williams May 03, 2013

Dale - I am assuming you used the timer and I'm wondering how long it took to get to the end of the sofa and zonk out? Is 10 seconds enough? 20?

Also, it appears the vacuum cleaner is not plugged in. ...just sayin' #10680761

Dale Hardin May 03, 2013

HaHaHa! I wondered how long it was going to take for someone to mention the vacuum. :o)

Susan, I did use the 10 second timer but only because my wireless remote conked out. The hardest one was getting into the other room, the zonking out was easy for a guy my age. :o) #10680798

Dale Hardin May 03, 2013

Elaine, use your daughter. It would have been a lot easier to use someone else but I was all I had at the moment and by the time I got to the fifth me, he was almost unbearable to work with. #10680801

Elaine Hessler May 03, 2013

That is a GREAT idea. And it will be a great keepsake too! It should be easy to get her into a few different poses/moods within a short period of time:). I apologize in advance for her messy room. #10680813

Michael Kelly level-classic May 03, 2013

Fun shot Dale and nicely done. When I first saw it, I was sure you must have had multiple exposure on your camera. None of my cameras have this feature either - I would have to upgrade to the Mark III in order to get it. The post processing did a great job though. #10681072

Susan Williams May 03, 2013

Dale, I am unsure about how to use "black" to remove a character. Can you provide the steps? I understand the rest of it (I think). This is way out of the box for me and I'd like to give it a try. #10681080

Dale Hardin May 03, 2013

Susan when you create a mask, black conceals and white reveals. If you have a clipping mask on a layer and you paint black over the subject, when you invert the mask, (you might have missed that step} then everything is hidden with black and the subject is revealed with white. #10681122

Beth Spencer May 04, 2013

This is way too funny! Makes me kind of tired seeing how busy you are. I am going to have to think on this one. #10682034

Dale Hardin May 04, 2013

As you can see, it made one of me tired too! :o) Thanks Beth. Looking forward to your version. #10682070

Peter W. Marks May 04, 2013

Too, too much Dale!. I don't think I can deal with five of you!
Pity about the subject but very clever my friend. #10682083

Dale Hardin May 04, 2013

Peter, stiff upper lip, my friend. You can handle multiply me's. At least the one that is nodding off. :o) #10682108

Teresa H. Hunt May 04, 2013

Wow! That's a lot of Dale! :)

I like the Dale sitting in the other room . . . almost missed him.

It's funny I've been thinking Jeff should do a time lapse of me studying because I'm constantly changing positions and where I sit. This could be a fun alternative. The question is will I have the time? :) #10682136

Lindley Johnson level-classic May 05, 2013

I love this image, Dale! So creative and fun - and very well done, too! #10682566

Anthony L. Mancuso May 05, 2013

Very cool Dale...I think it's leaning to the right cuz there are 4 of you on that side and only one on the left ;) #10682597

Dale Hardin May 05, 2013

Morning Teresa. Your plan would work great. My shoot only took about five minutes after I set up the camera and took a test shot for lighting and focus. The post- processing goes very fast "if" you don't overlap, and takes a bit longer if you do, but the overlapping is more effective. Go for it, girl. :o) #10682722

Dale Hardin May 05, 2013

Thanks Lindley, it is fun. I want to do some that are more complicated like arm wrestling with yourself or leap frog, etc. #10682725

Dale Hardin May 05, 2013

Tony, thanks for getting me off the hook, by spotting the reason the image tilted after it was posted. You know I'd never post a crooked one on purpose. :o) #10682728

Susan Williams May 05, 2013

Looks like you need to change the battery in your clock, Dale. If you created this image in the morning, this definitely isn't light found at 2:20 a.m.

Your ideas of leap frog and arm wrestling sound intriguing...your energy level is to be admired! #10682762

Dale Hardin May 05, 2013

Good eye Susan. That clock was an award from the company I worked for many years ago and hasn't worked for about four years. Should get it fixed I guess. #10682816

Susan Williams May 05, 2013

You certainly have led the Challenge by making it so much fun, Dale.

None of my wall clocks work either. #10682829

Teresa H. Hunt May 05, 2013

My parents have the same clock. Theirs doesn't work either. The last time I remember it working, I was a kid :) #10682830

Peter W. Marks May 05, 2013

And just for fun and I hope it is OK to do this on your thread Dale, here is me in several poses. Coincidentally this was shot a couple of weeks ago when a friend wanted to experiment with multiple images. Jack wouldn't divulge what his project was but came over to our place and 'directed' me through a dozen or so "don't smile, look a bit intimidating" shots. He even brought those dark framed glasses with no lens to make me a bit meaner looking.(NB friends, that is a great way of avoiding unwanted reflections).

#10682859

Peter W. Marks May 05, 2013

And watching golf on the tv while doing this I forgot to select 'number of images' before I clicked on submit. So I try again!
#10682864

Dale Hardin May 05, 2013

Thanks for this sample Peter. He did a pretty good job except for the perspective and size of the one on the right.

Now it's your turn to give it a shot. #10683067

Susan Williams May 05, 2013

This is great, Peter! The one on the right must be the first born and next to him, the runt. (Dale makes a good point about perspective. It's probably better to put some space between "us" rather than have merging of clothing and limbs.) As for he "mean man" - that's a fail - I guess you don't have it in you. Kudos to your friend. Can't wait to see what you come up with on your own. #10683088

Dale Hardin May 05, 2013

What messes it up is that the one on the right has his arm behind the next one, yet his feet are well in front of him. #10683096

Teresa H. Hunt May 05, 2013

Ya Peter you look more like a studious professor than intimidating. :) #10683312

Susan Williams May 05, 2013

Good eye, Dale! Somehow I completely missed that. #10683322

Sherran Andersen level-classic May 22, 2013

Very creative. #10703437

Dale Hardin May 22, 2013

Thanks a lot Sherran. It's a fun project. #10703451
