Florence, Italy
Uploaded: October 17, 2005
I took this on my trip to Florence in April. I did use the transform/skew option in Photoshop to bring the tower closer to the center, in line with the arch. And I cropped into a 5x7 format. Any thoughts?
Aperture was at 3.5, lens was a nikkor 28-105 at 28. I can't remember the shutter speed.

Wow. That looks a lot softer here than it does on my laptop. Oh well. #328137Morgan Kallin October 17, 2005
Wish that lower building that is covering part of the tower was not there but this is still a very nice shot. Love the blue and how the picture draws your eye in to it. #1961679Dee Caraballo October 18, 2005
Thank you for responding and for your kind critique. This was my first trip where I had a "real" camera and was so excited but never realized what photographers go through when they shoot in tourist locales. I'm disappointed in the lower portion fo the photo as well, but like the upper half enough to make it a keeper. #1964011Siete Meeter October 27, 2005

well...if there's something wrong about this picture is the aperture. The intention is great, the result is good, but this is a shot to try at least af f/11...f/16 better and f/22 ideal. A tripoid a must for architectural shots.

Protacio, thank you. But a tripod through Florence? Ummmm...no way! LOL I'd rather get a slightly blurry shot than deal with that! Actually, it was shot at F/13 and 1/200 at 28mm.#2072313

Dee, the composition and angle of this image is very good. My eyes focused in on the tower and then moved up to the top of the image and the ceiling details, which made the image interesting to me. Good eye, keep up this way of looking at things.John V. Roscich June 08, 2006
GREAT SHOT. LOVE THE LINES AND PERSPECTIVE.Phil Cannon June 29, 2007
Love the comp and the lines in this - I wouldn't be overly worried about perfection in symmetry with the buildings and tower - you have a record of the reality of what was there!! #4458164Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
