Cherry Blossoms Cornered at a Sacred Site

Uploaded: February 16, 2012

Description

This photo was taken Feb 6, 2012 at 1:59PM at a sacred site known as an Utaki in Okinawa, Japan. A single cherry tree was in full bloom on the grounds and I wanted to eliminate some uninteresting background to take the shot. It has been a sporadic Sakura season (Cherry Blossom) in Okinawa, due some severe typhoon activity over the past year. I wanted to capture this beauty but, needed to make sure it was alright to include this special place of worship without offending anyone. Permission was granted by the village office, along with a smile so, they probably have a freebie photo coming. Pentax K5, tripod, shutter release cable and an 18-250 Pentax lens at 78mm were used. f/16 1/80 ISO 400. Contest Category: Travel and Place
